I am pleased to share with you the 2017-2018 Impact Report of the Woodward Hines Education Foundation (WHEF).
The title of our report, “Talent, Meet Opportunity,” was inspired by my travels throughout this great state and by meeting so many bright and capable high school students and adults who want more but don’t feel they have the potential or opportunity to pursue a postsecondary degree or credential that will ultimately lead to a better quality of life. Whether it is in the Delta, along the Gulf Coast, or in the Golden Triangle, I am constantly reminded—that, while talent is equally distributed in Mississippi, opportunity is not.
At WHEF, we believe that postsecondary degrees and credentials are vital in improving the lives of Mississippians, building communities, and strengthening our workforce—all of which lead to a better and brighter Mississippi.
While we work each day with enthusiasm and optimism, we realize that WHEF alone is not the answer. That is why we are committed to working with other funders, nonprofit organizations, public and private sector partners, state leaders, students, parents, and educators to unlock the prolific potential of all Mississippians.
Working together, we can indeed elevate Mississippi to a higher degree.
