A Note from the President and CEO
We often hear about young people in Mississippi beating the odds to achieve academic or professional success. Those stories are heartwarming, but they are also far too uncommon. At the Woodward Hines Education Foundation (WHEF), we have committed ourselves to changing the odds for students and families in Mississippi. For more than 20 years, Woodward Hines has worked to create a Mississippi where all people can secure training and education beyond high school that will allow them to enhance their quality of life, strengthen their communities, and contribute to a vibrant and prosperous future.
We continue to work every day to elevate Mississippi to a higher degree by connecting students and families to educational opportunities and identifying and investing in promising practices to improve college persistence and completion. Closing the postsecondary educational opportunity gap in Mississippi will require a comprehensive, statewide approach, which means Woodward Hines, and all of our partners across the state, must be intentional in the investment of our social, intellectual, and financial capital to shrink—and eventually eliminate—this gap.
As we seek to expand our impact and broaden our work throughout the state, we want to develop deeper and stronger relationships with organizations and individuals who share our passion and purpose. We are excited about partnering with individuals and institutions across the public and private sectors to create a Mississippi where everyone has the opportunity to unlock their full potential, navigate and thrive in a competitive global market, and realize economic security and full engagement as empowered citizens.
We hope you will join us in our efforts to elevate Mississippi to a higher degree.
Sincerely,
Jim McHale, President and CEO
